Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty Opening - Pre-Interior Design Department

The School of Art, Design and Architecture (SoADA) at Judson University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure track Interior Design faculty member commencing fall 2011. Judson University is pursuing the development of a CIDA accredited program with a four - year Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design. The School is comprised of 13 full-time and 17 adjunct faculty serving 270+ architecture, art and design majors in a NAAB accredited program.
Judson is a comprehensive University of the liberal arts, sciences and professions, committed to an evangelical expression of Christian faith and living, and accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Judson offers four-year programs as well as degree completion programs for non-traditional students and Master's degrees in Architecture, Education, Literacy and Business. Judson’s 90-acre campus is located 40 miles northwest of Chicago on the banks of the Fox River. We seek candidates who are committed to an evangelical Christian worldview and who seek to integrate their faith within the practice and study of their academic discipline.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess a CIDA accredited degree in Interior Design. NCIDQ certification or eligibility is desired. A master’s degree is required. Teaching experience is desired. The position requires the expertise to teach undergraduate interior design studios and support courses with the possibility of future administrative responsibilities. This would include overseeing program development. Teaching expertise should include design studio at all levels and should be related to curricular areas such as lighting, materials, color theory, digital representation, history of interiors, environment-behavior and professional practice. Candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of codes and construction documentation.
Professional experience in interior design and a commitment to working with other faculty members and seeking innovative teaching methods are essential. Salary and rank are dependent upon credentials, experience and accomplishments.
