Dr. Curtis Sartor

Associate Vice President for Diversity and Spiritual Development

Curtis Sartor 2Dr. Curtis J. Sartor Jr. became Assistant to the President for Diversity and Spiritual Development, a role that was an outgrowth of Judson’s ongoing Strategic Plan, in January 2016. He was named Associate Vice President for Diversity and Spiritual Development and appointed as the Title Nine Coordinator in August 2016.

In this capacity, he provides overall leadership, direction, advocacy, communication and assessment of diversity and inclusion issues on campus and leads internal and external diversity committees.

From 2008 through 2015, Dr. Sartor served as dean of Judson’s School of Art, Design and Architecture, and he continues to teach courses in the Architecture Department as a tenured professor.

He earned a master's degree in Architecture from Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Ala., and a Ph.D. in Environmental Design (with specialties in Cultural Anthropology and Multicultural Studies) from The Union Institute & University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is also a licensed minister and serves as pastor and youth minister for Come As You Are Church (CAYA #1) in Elgin, Ill.

He was also recently appointed to a three-year term on the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities’ (CCCU) Commission on Diversity and Inclusion.

Dr. Sartor and his wife, Edna Johnson Sartor, have one son and four grandchildren.
