Dr. Wilbert (Will) J. Friesen
Provost and Chief Academic Officer
Wilbert (Will) J. Friesen, Ph.D., joined the administrative team as provost at Malone University in July 2008, and became interim president in February 2010. Before arriving at Malone, Dr. Friesen served in a number of administrative positions at Fresno Pacific University and taught courses in the division of Biblical and Religious Studies. Born in Chilliwack, B.C., Canada, Friesen earned the B.A. in psychology from Tabor College, Hillsboro, KS (1977); the M.S. in psychology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS (1980); the M.A. in theology and historical studies from Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Fresno, CA (1982); and the Ph.D. in religion and culture from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec (1999).
Dr. Friesen served in a variety of leadership positions in the Fresno and Canton, his local church, and denomination. He and his wife, Glenna, have two daughters: Alyssa, a graduate student in Loma Linda, California; and Joelle, a recent graduate of Seattle Pacific University and employed in Seattle, Washington.
