Criminal Justice Management
The Criminal Justice Management program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to assume a leadership role in a law enforcement or public sector agency. The program prepares students for the challenges that are faced by today’s modern organizations. Special attention is paid to leading and motivating people, providing a service in an environment of shrinking budgets, developing a community-oriented policing strategy, and serving both internal and external customers. The program also provides the managerial leadership concepts necessary to be successful in future endeavors beyond law enforcement.
Elgin, Rockford, and Online
This program offers vital courses to succeed in the fields of law enforcement and public sector agencies, and has some of the top instructors in this field, including Police Chiefs, attorneys, and Judges. Courses include; Public Finance and Budgeting , Labor Relations in a Criminal Justice Environment, Crime Analysis, Homeland Security/Emergency Management, Community-Oriented Policing, Criminal Procedure, and Senior Leadership and Management, to name a few. We have a Criminal Justice Advisory Board, which includes Police Chiefs and Judges that gives input to help keep this program on the cutting edge of the marketplace demands. Students may complete an optional internship, as well. Our comprehensive curriculum, and outstanding instructors, makes this program stand out in this field.
The job outlook for law enforcement, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, is expected to grow at a rate of approximately 7% for 2010-2020.
