Alumnus and Published Author Chad Balk to Return to Judson for Book Talk
(Elgin, IL - April 9, 2012) Judson University Alumnus Chad Balk '10 will return to his alma mater this Thursday, April 12, for a book talk about his recently self-published novel, Rundor's Apprentice. The talk will be held from 6:45-7:45 p.m. in Creekside South (1151 N. State St., Elgin).
Rundor's Apprentice tells the story of Caladur Vandel, a young elf, who is thrown out onto the streets and abandoned, and subsequently forced to relearn everything he has ever through to be true. Vandel struggles with the fact that he has been a menace to society, a realization he only comes to when he is forced to reside with those he tormented. On his own, he strives to make his own way to fame and fortune within the large city of Fatiil, Rostanlow.
Balk, a secondary education English major, first came up with the idea for Rundor's Apprentice while he was still in school at Judson. After graduating, Balk began work on the fantasy novel that he hopes will be the first in a series set in Rostanlow. He currently works as a senior services specialist for Chase Card Services.
Balk will be at Creekside South before and after the book talk to greet guests and sign copies of his book. This event is free and open to the public.
