Challenging Our Senses: Jim Munroe to Keynote Judson University's 2017 World Leaders Forum Inspirational Series

Jim Munroe - WLF Inspirational Series(ELGIN, IL – July 11, 2017) Author and cancer survivor Jim Munroe will keynote Judson University’s annual World Leaders Forum Inspirational Series on Monday, Oct. 9, 2017. Tickets for Munroe’s inspiring message of survival and overcoming skepticism are on sale now starting at $25.

“While Jim Munroe’s name may not be familiar to you yet,” said Judson University President Dr. Gene Crume, “you won’t be able to forget him or his presentation once you witness it for yourself. We are thrilled to bring his unique and inspiring story to Elgin.”

Munroe made the announcement today in a video that was shared on Judson University’s social media accounts; click here to watch it.

“I’ve had the opportunity to come to Judson University in the past. It’s a very special place, and the World Leaders Forum is an extremely special event,” Munroe said in his video. “My keynote is going to be more than just a speech. It’s going to share my journey from baseball player, to magician, to cancer survivor. I know attendees will leave this event feeling truly inspired.”

In 2009, Munroe was one of the most sought-after magicians in the world, known for his bewildering acts of illusion that left audiences yearning for more. After receiving a harrowing leukemia diagnosis and being given only months to live, Munroe was forced to confront his own mortality and explains what happened next as a “medical and philosophical miracle.”

Munroe’s performance, the MAZE, is an innovative approach to entertainment that immerses audiences in Munroe’s story of survival. Through mystery and magic, Munroe challenges audiences to go behind the scenes of our human existence to search for the truth. He is the author of The Charlatan: The Skeptical, Mysterious, Supernatural True Story of a Christian Magician, and a regular speaker at conferences, corporations and events around the world. He lives outside of Dallas, Texas, with his wife and two children.

The goal of the World Leaders Forum Inspirational Series is to offer Judson students and the Chicagoland community an opportunity to be inspired by significant thought leaders. The series has previously featured Olympic gymnast Mary Lou Retton and Life Without Limbs author and motivational speaker Nick Vujicic.

Proceeds fund Judson Leadership Scholarships and innovative entrepreneurial activities as well as support ongoing operations of the World Leaders Forum. Now in its fourth academic year, the Judson Leadership Scholars Program provides the most prestigious scholarship that a Judson student can receive, with up to five recipients selected per year. Student scholars receive leadership training and financial aid based on their academic merit, leadership qualities, and financial need. To be eligible, a student must show attributes of creativity, leadership, innovation, mission and faith.
