Christian Band Sons of Korah to Lead Worship in Chapel

Sons of Korah(ELGIN, IL – September 26, 2018) Judson University will soon welcome members of the Sons of Korah band to campus. The Australian Christian group, which uses the Book of Psalms as the basis of its musical repertoire, will lead worship during chapel on Friday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. at Herrick Chapel (1151 N. State St., Elgin). The event is free and open to the public.

With their unique acoustic, multi-ethnic sound, band members place great emphasis on the Psalms being the heart of the Bible, a songbook that is full of pertinent messages and a powerful way to worship and minister to others.

To date, they’ve recorded 11 albums in studio and live, including “Fractures,” “The Complete Live Recordings,” “Refuge,” “Live Recordings Vol. 2,” “Wait,” “Live Recordings Vol. 1,” “Rain,” “Resurrection,” “Shelter,” “Redemption Songs” and “Light of Life.” Their songs range from lamentations to turbulent battle cries.

The name, Sons of Korah, is derived from an Old Testament Levitical group of the Bible. On their Facebook page, band members say, “Most of the Psalms could be referred to as prayers. Prayer is usually thought of as the process of asking God for things, that is, supplication. Actually, it is much broader than this,” they say. “Prayer is simply conversing with God.”

Come join us for this special event.
