Congratulations Judson Athletes As Baseball Team Becomes CCAC Champs Again, Runner Sarah Miller Qualifies for NAIA Nationals and Softball Gears Up for NCCAA National Tournament
(Elgin, IL – May 6, 2013) Judson University’s athletes have much to celebrate after a weekend of competition.
Judson’s Baseball Team Becomes CCAC Champs Again
The Judson University baseball team continued an amazing season by beating Trinity Christian 13-3 in the CCAC championship game on Friday. This is the second CCAC tournament championship in program history and the first time that any CCAC school has won the regular season championship and the tournament championship in the same season since the conference went to a playoff format five years ago.
Judson has now won 17 games in a row, a win streak that dates back to April 14. Judson is now 44-15 on the season and they will advance to the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round on May 9-13 in Joliet, Ill.
Track and Field’s Sarah Miller Qualifies for the NAIA National Championship
The Judson University track and field program completed their third year of hosting the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Track and Field Championships in Joliet, Ill. Amidst volunteering their time to help administer a championship meet, the Judson athletes performed very well.
Highlighting the weekend was Sarah Miller, who qualified for the NAIA National Championships with a fifth place finish in the 3000m Steeplechase in a time of 11:34.03. She will compete at Indiana Wesleyan on May 23.
Judson Softball Team Gears Up for NCCAA National Tournament on Thursday
Although the Judson softball team was eliminated from the CCAC tourney on Friday after losing to St. Francis 3-2, the team is gearing up to compete in the NCCAA National Tournament, which runs May 9-11 in Botetourt, Va. The Eagles are seeded fourth in the 10-team field and they will play the #5 seed Indiana Wesleyan on Thursday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
