Dr. Lawrence Drake to Give Keynote Address at Judson University’s Annual Prayer Breakfast
Larry Drake (ELGIN, IL – March 1, 2019) Dr. Lawrence Drake, a dynamic and global leader, will give the keynote speech at Judson University’s annual Community Prayer Breakfast. This community networking event will be held on Wednesday, May 8 from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at a new venue, the Love Family Christian Foundation located in downtown Elgin.

Dr. Drake currently serves as the president and CEO of LEAD, an organization focused on developing equal learning access models. Previously, he served for 21 years with The Coca-Cola Company, where he held several key positions and was responsible for franchising operations and financial performance in Western Africa. His role included political engagement, public policy and advocacy across 15 diverse countries while working globally with franchise ownership partners across Africa, Greece, Europe, Latin America and the United States.

Dr. Drake is currently chair of HOPE 360 Inc., an executive development consultancy. He has also served as interim president/CEO of the Executive Leadership Council, president of Haven Media Group and VP/GM of the KFC Division, formerly owned by PepsiCo. In addition to his numerous executive roles, he has served on various boards. He currently serves on Judson University’s Board of Trustees.

As the first in his family to earn a college degree, Dr. Drake began at Fisk University and graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in 1977. He went on to earn an MBA from Rockhurst University in 1990, where he was an Executive Fellow. In 2013, he was awarded an MA in Psychology from APA-accredited Fielding Graduate University and earned a Ph.D. in psychology with an emphasis in media psychology in 2015. He also holds certifications from the prestigious International Coaching Federation and is a member of Forbes Magazine's Coaches Council. With a sustained commitment to learning access and mentoring, Dr. Drake continues to support National Black MBA Association, United Negro College Fund, National Alumnae Associations of Georgia State University and Rockhurst University, a life member of the General Alumni Fund for Fisk University, and a "Life Member" of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

For the first time, Judson will partner with the Love Family Christian Foundation to host the event in downtown Elgin. The foundation is located at 310 E. Chicago St., Elgin, Ill., and organizers are excited to bring the event to this new venue as a move to be more centrally located and recognize the Foundation at its newly renovated facility. The Love Family Christian Foundation’s mission is to empower lives through education, the performing arts, community outreach, worship and global missions.

During the Prayer Breakfast, Judson will recognize one service leader from the community and one high-school student for their contributions to greater Elgin philanthropic organizations, church communities and municipalities. The youth award winner will also receive a scholarship to Judson University for their community service. Nominations for both awards are sought with submissions needed by April 5 at JudsonU.edu/communityaward or JudsonU.edu/youthaward
