Hollywood Producers Ralph Winter and Dean Batali to Speak at Judson University's 2013 Imago Film Festival

(Elgin, IL – March 18, 2013) Judson University is pleased to announce the keynote speakers for the 2013 Imago Film Festival: Ralph Winter, producer of Star Trek and X-Men films; and Dean Batali, writer for popular television series That 70s Show and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The annual week-long film festival, which showcases faith-based indie films that emphasize image and story, will be held April 2 - April 6 in Judson’s Marjorie Thulin Performance Hall (1151 N. State St., Elgin).

A panel of local university film professors and other professionals in the film industry will judge original films shown at the festival. The prizes for the winning films are as follows: Best of Show - $1000, First Prize (1-15 minutes) - $250, First Prize (15-30 minutes) - $250, and Audience Choice Award - $100. Submissions for the film festival closed on February 20.

The festival will begin on Tuesday evening, April 2 at 7 p.m. with a screening of Father of Lights, a documentary directed and produced by Judson alum and former professor, Darren Wilson ’98. A discussion with the film’s cinematographer and composer, Matt Bilen ’95, will immediately follow the film’s screening.

Submissions for the film festival will be screened at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday of the festival. Friday’s festivities will begin at 7 p.m. with a keynote address and Q&A session with film producer Ralph Winter, followed by more screenings of film submissions at 8 p.m.

The final day of the festival, Saturday, April 6, will begin at 6 p.m. with a red carpet event, where guests can enjoy food, live music, and participate in a best-dressed contest. Film writer Dean Batali will give a keynote address at 7 p.m., followed by the award ceremony for film submissions at 8 p.m. The evening will conclude with screenings of the award wining films.

Tickets for the Imago Film Festival are $5 for Tuesday through Thursday and $8 for Saturday’s award ceremony; a full-event pass is $12. For Judson students and faculty, tickets are $2 for Tuesday through Friday and $4 for Saturday’s award ceremony; a full-event pass is $6.
