Judson Alum and Pastor Ian Simkins to Speak in Chapel


Ian Simkins - Book of Mark(ELGIN, IL – September 7, 2018) Judson alum Ian Simkins is the Naperville Community Pastor of the Yellow Box Church location of Community Christian Church and a regular Judson chapel guest.

He will return Monday, Sept. 10, to discuss the current Gospel of Mark series at 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel (1151 N. State St., Elgin). The event is free and open to the public.

Simkins, a Detroit native, graduated from Judson in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries.

His life has been one of ministry. The oldest of seven children, Simkins has spent a summer in northern India doing ministry. He has worked in student and youth ministry, spoken domestically and abroad, toured the U.S, worked with justice ministries, taught at two universities, started the organization “Beauty in the Common,” been a pastor at Poplar Creek Church and now at the Yellow Box Church and has played drums on two album. He has also intentionally lived on the streets of Philadelphia for a week and been interviewed on numerous radio shows.

Simkins and his wife, Katie, have one son.
