Judson Named Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs Magazine
(Elgin, IL - September 25, 2012) Judson University has been named a Military Friendly School® for 2013 according to G.I. Jobs Magazine. G.I. Jobs Magazine surveyed more than 12,000 schools, and ranked Judson among the top 15 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide.
The survey examined five areas of concern for veterans and military personnel seeking to complete their degrees, including financial benefits, schedule flexibility, veteran support, degrees offered, and accreditation levels. Financially, Judson offers credits for military service and training, in-state tuition for non-residents, and provides merits and scholarships based on the College Level Examination Program.
Military students can also enjoy a flexible course schedule through online and evening classes for those seeking degrees in undergraduate, graduate and certification programs.
“Judson is full of genuine people from a wide variety of backgrounds who are all in different places on their walk with God,” says Zack Harig, a business student and a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. “I love this variety as it offers me the opportunity to mentor and be mentored. The campus is incredibly beautiful and the school's facilities are more than sufficient for all of my academic and extra-curricular needs.”
Harig was deployed to the Sangin and Kajaki Districts of Helmand Province in Afghanistan for seven-and-a-half months in 2011. Originally from Northbrook, Ill., Harig has spent time living in Washington D.C.; Amman, Jordan; Lugano, Switzerland; and Helmand Province, Afghanistan during the five years since he graduated high school.
“I chose to come to Judson because it was important for me to earn a degree in a reputable business program in the Chicago area, while living in a Christian community,” Harig says. Harig says he chose Judson after hearing about the school from a friend who was enrolled in the university’s adult professional program.
“My favorite experience at Judson has easily been my participation on the Men's Cross Country team,” he says. “It is a close-knit group of men and women who know what it means to work hard and demand excellence from themselves every day.”
Judson University is a fully accredited Christian liberal arts and sciences university with locations in Elgin and Rockford, Ill.
