Judson Seeks Nominations for D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award
(ELGIN, IL - February 21, 2012) Judson University is now seeking nominations for its annual community service award, the D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award, which is presented annually to the candidate who has contributed to the greater good within the Fox Valley community by voluntarily serving others' physical, emotional, intellectual or spiritual needs.
Nominees eligible for the award will have volunteered for multiple agencies and devoted a concentrated effort of service on behalf of the agencies. Past award winners have included Donna Anderson, Nancy Schueneman, Jack and Marlene Shales, Murna Hansemann, Floyd Brown and Claire Ollayos. The award recognizes volunteers who are committed to making a difference in the Fox Valley area, including the communities of Aurora, Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, South Elgin, Elgin, Carpentersville, Algonquin, and more.
The D. Ray Wilson Volunteer Service Award is named in honor of the Fox Valley civic leader and former executive of the Elgin Courier News, who was instrumental in starting Judson’s annual prayer breakfast. The award will be given to the winner during the annual Judson University Community Prayer Breakfast to be held from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 2 2012 in the Lindner Fitness Center in Elgin.
Tickets are $16 for individuals or $350 for a table of eight. The annual event attracts businesses and community leaders, emergency responders and pastors. Online registration will be available through Judson University's website at www.judsonu.edu beginning in mid-March.
