Judson Student Mi-Jung An to Perform Farewell Recital on October 28
(Elgin, IL - October 16, 2012) Judson University music student Mi-jung An will perform a farewell piano recital at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 28 in Herrick Chapel on Judson’s Elgin campus (1151 N. State St.).
An came to Judson from South Korea in 2011 to study with Music Professor Dr. Sojung Hong, who is also from South Korea. An began playing piano as a young child, and graduated from Ehwa Women’s University with a BM in Piano Performance. Following graduation, she ran a private piano studio for two years before deciding to pursue graduate studies in the U.S.
To prepare her for entrance into graduate school, An entered the Performance Certificate Program at Judson University. An has been a vital part of the Judson community during her time as a student, not only as the accompanist for several ensembles, but also as an integral part of the Judson Community Music School, where she has taught students ranging in age from 6 to 70. An will be completing her studies at Judson this December, and is in the process of applying to the University of Texas in Austin, where she plans to major in Piano Pedagogy.
Her recital will include works of J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Chopin and Prokofiev, and she will play Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 26, known as “Les Adieux” (The Farewell), an appropriate and poignant way to say “Goodbye and God Bless” to this well-loved and talented student! This event is free and open to the public.
