Judson Students Produce First Live Recording CD

Dark Room 2017(ELGIN, IL – August 25, 2017) Judson University’s first week of school has barely come to a close, and music students in the Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts (DCWPA) are already making headlines as the producers, writers and performers of a new CD, “Dark Room 2017 – Live in Studio B.”

This is the third student-led compilation project that has been produced in Judson’s own recording lab, Dark Room Studios, located on the lower level of Thompson Hall. The first was released in 2015. But this is the first live recording effort produced there.

“Typically, we’ve done it in the studio, track by track, but with this compilation record we wanted to do something different and recorded each song at a live event hosted in Studio B,” said Dark Room Studios Manager Tim May.

All but one song (“Jesus Loves Me”) on the CD was written and performed by Judson University students in April 2017 and was recorded, mixed and mastered by May’s “Recording Techniques II” class.

The “Dark Room 2017” album is available today on CD at the DCWPA Online Store as well as digital platforms:
