Judson Theater to Present First Shakespearean Performance in Seven Years
(Elgin, IL – February 7, 2011) Have no fear, one of Shakespeare's most famous plays, Twelfth Night is here! The Judson University Theater Department will perform it's first Shakespearean play in nearly seven years beginning at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 24 through Sunday, February 27. A matinee performance will be at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 27. All performances will be held in the newly renovated Thulin Performance Hall of the Ed and Alice Thompson Center.
Twelfth Night is the archetypal comedy where nothing and no one are what they seem, but where cross-dressing, contrived love notes, and swordplay between jealous suitors still ends in a wedding or two! Set in the 1940's and spoken in Modern English through the No Fear Shakespeare translation of Twelfth Night, Judson's production is far removed from the traditional Elizabethan era of Shakespeare's day. With a diverse cast comprised of Judson students, alumni, staff and faculty, the Judson Theater's first Shakespearean performance since 2004 should prove well worth the wait.
Top Billing includes: Aubrey Kreuzer, Matt Silar, Kassondra Tabb, Juddson Updike, Ashley McCambridge, Mackenzie Kerr, Lynn Hammerlund, Lela DeLong, Josh Warner, Keith Mandley, Kahla Jackson, Elise Nygard, Alinea Montroy, Kelsey Stremplenski, Amber Wolsfeld, and Joe Dorsinville.
