Judson Theatre to Perform Fall Musical “Quilters,” October 25-27
(Elgin, IL - October 24, 2012) Judson University Theatre will stage its fall musical production, “Quilters” on October 25 - 27 at 7 p.m. in the Marjorie Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center (1151 N. State St., Elgin).
Nominated for six Tony awards, including Best Musical, “Quilters” explores the journey of women on the prairie as they share their lives through the blocks of their quilts. "Quilters" was originally developed and produced by the Denver Center Theatre company, and received high praise and success regionally before it even reached Broadway and the Edinburgh Festival.
Now the Judson University Theatre program will bring this vivid story of early American womanhood to life with performances by sophomore communications majors Alinea Montroy of Chicago and Shelby Hirschberg of Elgin, Ill.; junior accounting major Julianna Akuchie of Manfield, Ohio; sophomore music performance and psychology major Kahla Jackson of Round Lake Beach, Ill.; sophomore worship arts major Becca Martin of West Chicago, Ill.; senior psychology major Elise Nygard or Joliet, Ill., and freshman special education major Erin Saflarski of Wheeling, Ill.
"'Quilters' is full of joy and pain, laughter and tears, life, beauty and drama, and it's as bright as the colors of the quilts," says Judson Professor and play Director Kimberly Schmidt.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students, $8 for seniors and groups of 15 or more, and can be ordered by calling 847-628-2625.
