Judson University Announces Two Scholarship Opportunities for June 2012 Fox Valley Music Camp
(May 14, 2012) The Judson University Music Department has announced two new scholarships available for participants of their annual Fox Valley Music Camp, scheduled this year for Monday, June 25 through Friday, June 29.
Established in 2006, The Fox Valley Music Camp at Judson University offers an enriching, fun-filled week of music lessons and performance training for students in grades kindergarten through twelfth grade.
A $1,500 grant from the Florence B. Palmer and Cornelia A. Palmer Foundation was awarded to Judson's camp. In addition, the university has established the Linda L. Cain "Pursuit of Excellence" Scholarship, which will be awarded to the high school applicant who submits a winning essay about the value of pursuing musical excellence.
"Linda Cain exemplifies the pursuit of excellence in all that she does, so we feel it would be very appropriate to award this scholarship to a student who desires to pursue that value through their musicianship," says Fox Valley Music Camp Coordinator Cheryl Richardson.
Linda Cain is wife to Judson University President Jerry B. Cain, who announced his plans to retire in August 2011. After 14 years of service to the school, Dr. Cain will retire effective June 30, 2012.
Interested applicants should be of high school age, grades 9-12. The one-page essay (double spaced) should address the value of pursuing excellence in music, and sent as an e-mail attachment to email@example.com, to be received no later than Friday, June 8. The applicant must also complete the on-line registration form for the Fox Valley Music Camp found at JudsonU.edu/jcms.
