Ten Years in Rockford: Judson University Christian College

Judson University Celebrates 10 Years in Rockford

(ELGIN, IL - June 2, 2009) Ten years ago, Judson University brought its adult accelerated degree program to Rockford, beginning in a single classroom at Rock Valley College. Today, the university is celebrating 10 years of meeting the educational needs of adults, in a new 10,000-square-foot building at 1055 Featherstone Road. Over 2,000 adults have earned their bachelor’s degrees at Judson through the Adult Undergraduate degree program (Elgin and Rockford campuses).

Judson provides a convenient educational plan for busy adults who have responsibilities and commitments, but still want to earn a Bachelor’s Degree. The program normally features a one-night-a-week schedule, and because of its accelerated nature, students study through a course each month. With enough acceptable transfer hours, a student may be able to earn their B.A. in about 15 months. Students may choose from five majors: Criminal Justice Management, Human Resource Management, Human Services, Management and Leadership (online also available), or Management of Technology Systems. A liberal arts cohort is also available for adults who have few or no college credit to transfer—this is the only accelerated cohort model for liberal arts that is available in the area.

Also offered at the Rockford campus is an accelerated Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership, and a teacher certification program for those who have a bachelor’s degree but wish to move to the education field.

A distinction that often separates the Judson experience from others is the personal, caring atmosphere which pervades the Judson campus. As a fully-accredited Christian liberal arts university, Judson desires to meet the needs of the whole student; body, soul, and spirit. Faculty and staff care for their students as individuals; cohort members bond and support one another as they work together to accomplish their goals.

Judson is currently registering for fall programs. For more information, call Pam at 815-399-3500 (e-mail ptimmons@judsonu.edu), or visit www.judsonforadults.com.
