Judson University Center for Worship in the Performing Arts Partners with Local Hospital to Bring Healing Through Music
(Elgin, IL - March 27, 2013) Judson University's Center for Worship in the Performing Arts and the Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital (AGSH) of Barrington, Ill. are forging a new relationship between their respective institutions, based on the mutual understanding that music can be an integral part of the healing arts.
On March 27, Judson Music Professor Dr. Sojung Hong took her Hymnology class of 11 students to AGSH to minister to patients with their gift of music. Judson Guitar Professor Adam Huff will also take his five-member classical guitar ensemble to AGSH in April.
"Our students learn in the classroom and on our campus that the gift of their musical talent comes with a responsibility to minister to others," explains Dr. Robert Kania, chair of Judson's Music Department. "We are grateful that thanks to the cooperation between the Center for Worship in the Performing Arts and Good Shepherd our students can share their talents with those in need."
