Judson University Preview Day Forms First College Friendships, Helps Guests Envision Themselves as JU Students
(ELGIN, IL – September 19, 2012) Last fall, Erin Saflarski (Arlington Heights, Ill.) and Kelly Sommers (Mount Prospect, Ill.) were two high school seniors with the same goal: to earn a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education. They met at Judson University’s campus preview day on Labor Day, and the rest, as they say, is history.
"Everyone was so friendly and excited to show me around, especially when I visited the dorms. It was so beneficial to see campus and be able to imagine myself as a student there one day," says Saflarski.
Sommers and Saflarski both felt an instant connection to the Christian university located on the banks of the Fox River in Elgin, and to each other, so they decided to be roommates for their freshman year.
"Little did we know, our grandmas were already best friends and were planning on introducing us anyway, but we beat them to it!" Saflarski explains.
Sommers says that although she had been looking at other local universities for her degree, as soon as she stepped onto Judson’s campus, she knew it was the right place for her.
“After Judson’s preview day, I stopped looking and visiting other campuses. It all fell into place that I met Erin, found the program I wanted, and got accepted to Judson,” says Sommers.
