Judson University's Homecoming 2018 - More Around Every Corner

Homecoming-1(ELGIN, IL – July 2, 2018) Judson University’s Homecoming 2018, September 27-29, will be a three-day weekend packed with family fun games, inspirational speakers, reunions, parties, award ceremonies, competitions and more. And the festivities will all take place on our beautiful campus (1151 N. State St, Elgin).

Right out of the gate, Judson will host the annual Network Night on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6:30 p.m. in Lindner Tower’s Reed Room. The event will feature Lori Perry Heiselman ’93, founder and CEO of top Nashville-based PR firm Biscuit Media Group.

Friday’s Alumni Chapel service at 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel will include worship led by Graveyards to Gardens (Aaron Andries '15, Jeremy Yap '16, Tim May '13 and Josiah Vik '18) and an inspiring message from Alumnus of the Year Heather Funk Palacios ’95 from Coral Springs, Fla.

There will be a Judson star-studded Alumni Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner & Awards Ceremony at 6 p.m. in the newly renovated Lindner Commons to honor Judson’s 2018 inductees.

A fun Judson Unscripted panel discussion with favorite professors, students and alumni, led by comedic host Dave Hunter ’02, will ensue at 7:30 p.m. in the Thulin Auditorium. And, a delicious dessert reception will follow to close out the night.

Festivities will continue on Saturday, starting with an 8 a.m. Fun Run/5K (registration will be available outside of Lindner Fitness Center at 7 a.m.).

The current men of Wilson Hall will take on Wilson Hall alumni during a Disc Golf rivalry on Judson’s Disc Golf Course, starting at 9:30 a.m., with prizes for the top teams.


Homecoming-2Alumni Games in baseball, softball and women’s soccer will all commence at 10 a.m., on their respective fields.

A spectacular Alumni Luncheon and Program is planned at 11 a.m. in the newly renovated Lindner Commons. A special recognition award will be given to Professor Emeritus Dr. Stuart A. “Doc” Ryder for his 50-plus years of service. The ceremony will also honor the recipients of the Family Legacy Award, the Distinguished Alumni Awards and the Alumnus of the Year Award.

The young and the young at heart will enjoy an afternoon of face painting, inflatable play, food trucks and lawn games at Judson Fest! from 1-3 p.m. on Dawson Field while the Judson student band performs.

The Alumni Men’s Soccer Game begins promptly at 2 p.m. on Dawson Field, and will feature the Wilson Boys Choir singing the national anthem.

The Women’s Varsity Volleyball team will play Indiana University Northwest at 3:30 p.m. in Lindner Fitness Center.

The Judson Student Organization will sponsor rounds of Judson-specific Family Feud at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel.

And, Homecoming 2018 will wind down quietly with a Sibling Sleepover event in the dorms beginning at 9 p.m.

Homecoming 2018 will also share the stage with a number of Family Weekend events sponsored by the Student Life Department.
