Judson University's Upcoming Preview Day Offers Many Events to Attend

(ELGIN, IL – Revised November 2, 2010) Guests at Judson University’s upcoming Preview Day will have the opportunity to hear from two guest speakers as they learn about the four-year Christian liberal arts university from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, November 5.

Special guest lecturers featured during that day will be the Dr. Tony Evans, senior pastor and radio personality from Dallas, Texas, who will speak at the 10 a.m. chapel service, and artist Dayton Castleman, who is the featured presenter for the School of Art, Design and Architecture’s Gallery talk and reception from 6-8 p.m. Both presentations are free for the public to attend. Dr. Evans' presentation will take place at Herrick Chapel (1151 N. State St., Elgin). Castleman's gallery talk will take place at the Draewell Gallery located in the Harm A. Weber Academic Center on Judson's Elgin campus.

Dr. Evans is founder and senior pastor for 8,000-member Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship in Dallas, Texas. He is also founder and president of The Urban Alternative, a national organization that seeks to bring about spiritual renewal in urban America through the church. The Urban Alternative radio broadcast, "The Alternative with Dr. Tony Evans," can be heard over 500 stations daily throughout the United States and in more than 40 countries worldwide.

Castleman is a Chicago-based conceptual artist and sculpture professor from Trinity Christian College. His work will be showcased in Judson’s Draewell Gallery from November 1-24.

These presentations are just two of the events that will make up Judson’s Fall Preview Day. This special preview day event will include informational sessions about separate program areas and financial aid opportunities, as well as a campus tour. Visitors will also have the opportunity talk with current staff, faculty and students. Visitors will also be able to attend chapel, dine in the cafeteria and experience several special programs.

Visitors interested in Christian ministries can attend a special overnight experience that begins at 5 p.m. on Thursday, November 4. Judson’s Christian ministries faculty, graduates and students will discuss program features and answer questions. After the informational session, prospective students will be paired with a current student who will be the overnight host and get prospective students more acquainted with Judson and the surrounding area. On Friday, prospective students will take part in the Preview Day.
