Judson's Christian Ministries Department Welcomes Dr. Ruth Barton as the 2017 Leadership in Ministry Forum Speaker(ELGIN, IL – March 17, 2017)
Dr. Ruth Haley Barton, founder of the Transforming Center in Naperville, Ill., will speak to ministry leaders and students as the guest speaker for Judson University’s Leadership in Ministry Forum on Thursday, March 30, at 7 p.m. in Room 126 in the Creekside South Building (1151 N. State St., Elgin). She will also speak during Judson’s Preview Day chapel on Friday, March 31, at 10 a.m. in Herrick Chapel.
The Preview Day chapel event is free and open to the public. The Leadership in Ministry Forum is a closed event and almost at capacity.
The purpose of the Leadership in Ministry Forum, hosted by the Christian Ministries Department, is to foster the development of ministry leaders through engagement with innovative thinkers in the field and beyond. The event is designed to be interactive, giving participants the opportunity to dialogue with the speaker and other leaders in the community related to the topic for the night.
The charter forum in 2015 featured author and attorney Bob Goff. Last year’s event invited in motivational speaker, preacher and author Efrem Smith. This year, the forum is excited to welcome Dr. Barton.
Dr. Barton, who earned her doctoral degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary, is a sought-after speaker, retreat leader and trained spiritual director. She is the author of numerous books and resources on the spiritual life, and she has served on the pastoral staff of several churches including Willow Creek Community Church. She is currently a professor of Spiritual Transformation at Northern Seminary.
And, the Transforming Center has as its mission to strengthen the souls of clergy, Christian leaders and the congregations and organizations they serve.
