Judson's Stellar Architecture Program to Celebrate 20th Anniversary

Architecture Logo 2017(ELGIN, IL – September 8, 2017) Judson University’s esteemed Architecture program has reached a milestone. This year, the 20th anniversary celebration of Judson Architecture will occupy the place of the annual James Didier Symposium On Christ and Architecture on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16.

The celebration will begin with a special gallery opening of alumni architectural projects Friday, Sept. 15, in the Harm A. Weber Academic Center (1151 N. State St., Elgin), followed by a series of panel discussion and presentations on Saturday, Sept. 16, in Herrick Chapel. These events are free and open to the public.

This year’s theme will focus on “Looking back to look forward,” and the featured speakers will include former Judson presidents Dr. James Didier and Dr. Jerry Cain; former Judson professor Del Rey Loven, who envisioned Judson’s Architecture program; previous chairs of the Department of Architecture as well as former and current professors, advisory council members, alumni, students and friends.

James Didier, the symposium’s namesake, was Judson’s fourth president under whom the Architecture program was founded. The 20th Anniversary brings together the founders and alumni who serve in various capacities as architects and educators.

The celebration is also expected to draw theologians and students who will participate by contributing to special essays and discussions around subjects of architecture, the built environment and a Christian worldview.

The symposium schedule is as follows:

Friday, Sept. 15: 3-5 p.m. (Harm A. Weber Academic Center)
Saturday, Sept. 16: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Herrick Chapel)
