Judson to Host Research Colloquium with Dr. Lydia Saravia

Dr. Lydia Saravia(ELGIN, IL – September 13, 2018) Judson University’s Graduate Programs in Literacy Education will host an hour-long research colloquium on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 5 p.m. in Room 116 in the Creekside South Education Building (1151 N. State St., Elgin).

Each year the department hosts one or more research colloquia as part of a series called “And the Research Suggests....” The colloquia are designed to provide an opportunity to highlight scholarship as one of the fundamental values of the Judson Literacy community.
The fall presenter will be Dr. Lydia Saravia, a professional lecturer of Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse at DePaul University and a post-doctoral researcher for Development of Immigrant Youth in Action (DIYA) Lab at the University of Illinois Chicago. Her predominant area of study is multilingual students, bilingual and bicultural education and immigrant-origin youth.

Dr. Saravia holds a bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from DePaul University, a master’s degree in English from the University of Rhode Island and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
