Let the Music Begin - and Continue - as the Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts Prepares for a Season of Concerts and Recitals
(ELGIN, IL-March 18, 2016)
Right on the heels of its spring performance tour, the Judson University Choir and other entities within the Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts are gearing up for a number of musical events in the weeks to come. While most will be held on the Elgin campus (1151 N. State St., Elgin), others will be at remote locations.
“We are pleased to offer once again a wide variety of musical expressions during our peak recital season,” said Demoss Center Director Dr. Warren Anderson. “This year’s offering is especially eclectic.”
• Judson’s Piano Ensemble
will host a recital that brings together the collective talents of eight student performers who will produce harmonious sounds on Tuesday, March 22, at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center. The event is free and open to the public.
• On Sunday, April 3, the University Choir
will hold its annual home concert at 7 p.m. at Herrick Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.
• On Sunday, April 10, come out and hear great music at the Judson Civic Orchestra
Concert at 2 p.m. in Herrick Chapel. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and admission is free for students.
• There will be a Percussion Ensemble
Recital on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center. There is no admission fee.
• The Chamber Singers
and Guitar Ensembles
will host a combined recital on Friday, April 15, at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center. There is no admission fee.
• Judson’s Piano Performance Certificate
Student Recital will feature three performers on Thursday, April 21, beginning at 5:30 p.m., in the Thulin Performance Hall in the Thompson Center.
• On Sunday, April 24, the Judson University Choir
will join talented Artist-in-Residence Rev. Huntley Brown
for a fundraising concert for the choir’s mission trip to Jamaica, Brown’s home country, in May. The event will be held at First Baptist Church of Elgin (1735 W. Highland Ave., Elgin) at 6 p.m.
• Then, get prepared to take in the Spring Concert of Worship, featuring Judson performance-ministry ensembles
and also Judson’s own Prof. Pat Hargis
performing excerpts of his song cycle, “Memories of Jesus,” along with the Judson University Choir
and the Judson Civic Orchestra Strings
, on Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel. A free-will offering will be collected.
