Music Department Chair Robert Kania to Lead Immersion Recital Next Tuesday

Dr. Robert Kania(ELGIN, IL – October 4, 2017) Judson University’s Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts will host an “Immersion Recital,” featuring Music Department Chair Dr. Robert Kania and an ensemble cast of musicians and artists on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Auditorium in Thompson Hall.

The recital, which will focus on the 500th anniversary of The Reformation, will utilize solo piano, voice with string accompaniment, drama, projected video art and congregational singing during the celebration. Among the talented participants will be Dr. Kania (on piano); his wife, soprano Maria Kanyova; Judson professors Tara Hayes (violin/viola) and Robert Weber (cello); and Judson alums Ben Richardson ’14 (music) and Jonathan Richardson ’16 (art).

“This recital will try to convey a story through various means of communication,” Dr. Kania said of the upcoming event. “The idea is to present an experience from the broader perspective of performing arts in a worship-like setting.”

The event is free and open to the public.
