After playing baseball, basketball and football at Hampshire High School in Hampshire, Ill., and receiving 10 varsity letters with multiple All-state acknowledgments, Jake attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., on a baseball scholarship. While at Northwestern University he won three Big Ten Player of the Week awards and was a three-time Academic-All Big Ten award recipient.
