Pianist and Flutist to be Featured in Recital October 5

Yukiko Fujimura - Concert(ELGIN, IL – September 28, 2018) Judson University’s Demoss Center for Worship in the Performing Arts is hosting a recital on Friday, Oct. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Thulin Auditorium in Thompson Hall (1151 N. State St., Elgin), featuring Dr. Yukiko Fujimura on piano and Gianna Capobianco on flute.

Dr. Fujimura, who is from Kanagawa, Japan, is a piano instructor with the Judson Community Music School (JCMS). She earned her doctorate in Piano Performance from Ball State University, where she held a full teaching assistantship. Over the years, she has garnered many awards at competitions including the Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Performance in Wisconsin; the Yokosuka International Competition in Japan; and the Stanislaw Moniuszko International Competition of Slavic Music in Lithuania. In 2011, she appeared with the Belarusian National Symphony in Minsk, Belarus, and performed Prokofiev's challenging “Piano Concerto No. 1.”

Gianna Capobianco - Concert1During her recital at Judson, Dr. Fujimura will perform works by Bach (Well Tempered Clavier: Prelude & Fugue No. 13); Schubert (Impromptus No. 1 and 3 and Moments Musicaux); Beethoven (Sonata No. 30); and Scriabin (Etudes No. 1 and 12).

Freelance flutist Capobianco will play Sonatina for Flute & Piano by Eldin Burton. Capobianco is a flute instructor for the Judson Community Music School. She will be accompanied by Hyounkyoung Kim on piano.

Kim is a native of South Korea and a 2018 graduate of Judson’s Performance Certificate in Music program. She currently serves as the piano accompanist at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, Ill.
