Serenade to Spring Chamber Music Concert and Dinner to Feature Korean Musicians
(Elgin, Ill. March 2, 2010) Music lovers will enjoy “Serenade to Spring: An Evening with Classical Chamber Music” at 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 28 in the Herrick Chapel of Judson University (1151 N. State St., Elgin). A Pre-concert Dinner is also available at the University and will be held in the Eagle Lounge, which is located in Judson’s Lindner Tower prior to the concert.
The concert is a fundraising event and will feature several Korean musicians. Featured performers will include:
- Sojung Hong, associate professor of piano at Judson University. Hong will lead a chamber music group performing gems of classical music;
- Nazar Dzhuryn, assistant principle cellist at Elgin Symphony Orchestra;
- Yoonjoo Rachel Song, clarinetist, will join in Beethoven’s Trio in B-flat major and Bruch’s Trio, Op. 83; and,
- Eunsil Ra Kim, soprano, who will perform “The Shepherd on the Rock,” one of the Franz Schubert’s outstanding art songs written in his final year.
Other musical pieces to be performed include a Cello Sonata by C. Franck and Italian and Korean art songs that celebrate the spirit of spring.
Proceeds from this concert will fund scholarships for Korean music students who wish to gain a foot-hold in the western world of music by earning a Performance Certificate in Music offered at Judson University.
