Students Win Honorable Mention at Architecture Contest

(ELGIN, IL - May 1, 2009) Judson University applauds Architecture Students Jason Roberts, Ryan Browne, Joseph Juhl and Judson Alumni Samuel Lima for receiving an honorable mention after entering the 2009 Livable Communities Student Design Competition.  Sponsors of this competition included AARP and the American Institute of Architecture Students.  The goal was to create living accommodations for a variety of people, emphasizing accessibility and universal design.

The honorable mention recognized Illinois students for plans to enhance community design in downtown Naperville and in elderly-friendly buildings.  Judges awarded Roberts of Peoria, Ill., Browne of St. Charles, Ill., and Juhl of Hart, Mich., with the first three honorable mentions for “Connectivity,” a design for enhanced accessibility and community life in downtown Naperville.  Lima of Milton, Wisc., was next in line to receive recognition from the judges, who appreciated his work, “Sanctuary in the City,” which was a design for elder friendly building that promotes walking and other healthy living habits.

The winning designs will be posted here as soon as is convenient for the competition organizers:
