Walk with Judson During Elgin’s July 4 Parade and Honor Those Who Have Served
(Elgin, IL - June 23, 2014) Judson University is inviting community members to walk with their float during Elgin’s July 4 parade, which will celebrate the theme “Honoring Those Who Serve.”
Judson’s float will have a banner that says “Judson Honors Those Who Served” and we would like to invite anyone from the JU community (administrator, faculty, staff, student, alumnus) who has served in any branch of the U.S. forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard) to walk or ride the JU bus during the July 4 parade. Judson would greatly value having your presence there.
Those that haven’t served in the U.S. forces are invited to walk during the parade as well. We will need a group of Judson folks to have fun waving at 15,000 parade viewers, greet the many JU alums you will see along the route (and there are quite a lot!) and hand out candy to the kids. Please join us for that day.
Simply e-mail Eric Secker with your name, how many folks will be walking with you and which branch of the services you served in (if applicable). Meet up with the float at 7:30 a.m. to help with last minute decorations if you can. Be there no later than 8:15 a.m. The parade begins at 9 a.m. Our Judson bus and float will be located on Brook Street – Section A. We will be staged between Slade and Lincoln (see "Brook-A" on the map). Participants arriving in their own vehicles may park in any of the free parking areas on the map and use the shuttle pick-up site across the street from the Gail Borden Library to get dropped off along Lincoln Ave (one block east of our staging area). You can also park anywhere outside the staging area east of Douglas Ave. and walk toward our float.
