But those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles,They run and don’t get tired, they walk and don’t lag behind.
Isaiah 40:31 (The Message)
DR. ROBERT WALLACE
Dr. Wallace is the kind of professor you get when you combine Monty Python, Bill Nye, and Alton Brown and then have them teach Old Testament.
His academic career started in the Engineering program at Purdue University. However, through a series of life events, he found himself drawn toward a calling in Biblical Studies, and ultimately, he finished his Bachelor’s degree in Religion (with a minor in Mathematics) from William Carey College, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Dr. Wallace has said, about taking his first New Testament class, “I was convicted by what I heard about the Bible. I had literally grown up in church and so much of this information was new. I felt people needed to know this. I wasn’t aware, but I was surrendering to a call to be a professor in that moment.”
While in graduate work at Baylor University, Dr. Wallace was ordained at First Baptist Church of Waco, Texas, and he worked as a full-time pastor for several years. He still maintains a ministry of supply and interim preaching as the opportunities present themselves.
Dr. Wallace has an active social media presence, using his twitter feed and Facebook account to post interesting articles on higher education, Christianity, food, or simply ridiculous things that make him laugh.
He lives in Carpentersville, Illinois with his wife Cindy and their two boys, Daniel and Thomas. Cindy works as a hospice chaplain with Alexian Brothers and recently completed her D. Min. from Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, GA.
