Considering a Masters Degree in Education with an ESL or Bilingual Endorsement?
There is no time better than now!
In 2009, Illinois school teachers served a record number of English Language Learners in their classrooms. The uniquely beautiful cultural experiences that these students and their families offer to the classroom are all too often overshadowed by language barriers and other cultural miscues. Today, more than ever before, our educational system is striving to develop teachers prepared to meet the demands – and rewards – of a culturally and linguistically diverse classroom. Judson University has been responsive to this call by developing a Master’s Degree program consisting of courses based on best practice in the classroom and professors devoted to guiding Master’s Degree candidates along the way.
Judson University’s program is designed for teachers who want to enhance their skill sets and impact the learning environment in their classrooms. As you embark on this one year program, you will find ways to grow as a teacher ‐ and as a person ‐ you never dreamed possible. Our accelerated program is designed with the life of busy teachers in mind; courses are scheduled during the summer months and on only two nights a week during the school year. In addition, the coursework will be purposeful for you; we blend educational theory with research on best practice for immediate application to your classroom. In preparing our curriculum, we ask the following questions: what does the research say effective teachers are doing, how are they doing this, and how can we best convey this to our Master’s candidates? The Master of Education with an ESL or Bilingual Endorsement provides teachers with courses that will increase their knowledge and understanding of students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
In addition, your classes will be lead by professors with profound experience of their own in diverse classroom settings. Faculty in our Master’s Degree program are individuals of distinction with advanced and/or terminal degrees; they are individuals infused with a strong commitment to and passion for teacher education and reform; they are professionals carefully selected because of their desire to impact the lives of school children through you.
I am glad that you are taking this first step on the journey in what could be the most powerful year of your professional life. Please feel free to contact me for more information at anytime. I am here to serve your needs and, thus, the needs of your own classroom students. I look forward to walking together with you on the path towards your Master’s Diploma!
