What do you do in your current job and what do you enjoy about it?
I love designing and being creatively challenged. Two x Four is a very unique company. Although they’re a small team of 30 (including their Chattanooga, Tenn. office), they have a large impact on the advertising and design world. It is great to work for a company that values design, values their employees, and believes that the work produced does make a difference. As a designer, my role has been working with the creative director, art directors, production team, and copywriters. Jobs range from, rebranding, packaging, layout, web banners, advertising concepts, etc. I have also had the responsibility to travel to the Chattanooga office to collaborate and design with that team as well. I guess what I enjoy about working at Two x Four is that it doesn't feel like I am going to work. The environment, the people I work with, and the projects we do are all contributing factors to why I enjoying working for Two x Four. For me, designing is such a part of my life that doing it as a profession doesn't seem like a task or just a way to make a living.
How did your Judson experience influence you professionally? What were your favorite parts of being a Judson student?
I owe a great deal of my work ethic and creative juices to Judson and the professors. It has prepared me beyond my expectations. I can confidently look back on my time at Judson and have no regrets. What I always valued about my studio classes was how passionate every professor was in seeing their students succeed. They invested their time and energy to make sure we were as prepared as possible to take on the design world. And although there were times when projects would seep into the late hours at night, having a solid group of studio mates always made things easygoing and provided extra feedback.
What are the strengths of your major/program at Judson?
What I benefitted from the most was being able to pick the brains of the professors for creative wisdom. The professors believe in their students, and the program prepares students for the design world.
What advice can you give to current and prospective students about their time at Judson?
The more effort you invest in your projects, professors and peers, the more you will get out of it in the long run. Pick up other hobbies besides design. Build good habits while at school and work hard! Believe in your professors because they believe in you. Be kind to everyone.
