Biography

Professional bassoonist and private teacher, Ms. Downey completed her Bachelor of Music Theory and Composition degree at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She has performed in many orchestras, including The Civic Orchestra of Chicago, The Rockford Symphony, The Northbrook Symphony, and The Park Ridge Civic Orchestra. She also enjoys performing chamber music with the Opus 3 Woodwind Trio. Her list of teachers includes Homer Pence, Anne Eagleton, Willard Elliot, Robert Barris and currently with William Buckman of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She currently resides in South Elgin with her husband and two children, where she teaches a full private studio.
