Tim Johnson Profile
Ph.D. Purdue University
M.A. University of South Dakota
B.A. Central College (Pella, IA)
For over 25 years, Tim Johnson has enjoyed sharing the insightful nature of Sociology in his classes. He realized how valuable Sociology was while working as a youth director trying to fully understand the teen experience. Many questions were answered while hearing Sociologist and Christian scholar Tony Campolo speak at various youth gatherings. After teaching for many years, he joined the Christian university environment and found an even greater satisfaction by helping students integrate the study of social life with a Christian worldview. His students also experience the benefits of the Interactive classroom for their greater understanding. Social justice and the civil society have become important facets of his courses whether in courses on Cultural Diversity, Social Problems, or Principles and Practices of Social Justice. Tim’s research interests parallel his concerns by looking at the active elderly volunteers that impact their communities. They are inspiring people who give of themselves to meet the needs of others as part of their calling in life. Tim is an avid tennis player who enjoys many other sports and musical activities. Go Chiefs!
