Business Department Highlights
A Personal Approach
Our Business Department offers a unique opportunity for you to develop personal relationships with our faculty. This rare experience at the university level translates to increased opportunity inside and outside of the classroom. While the most obvious opportunities include taking advantage of the faculty’s professional relationships for networking and career development, you can also be closely involved in academic program development, research, and creating new initiatives within the university.
Beyond the Classroom
With small class sizes and a personal approach to the classroom, we offer a quality education. But all the opportunities outside the classroom add to the benefit. You can extend your educational experiences by participating in in our business clubs, entrepreneurial initiatives, or practicum experiences.
CREATE is an evolving initiative promoting a campus-wide entrepreneurial spirit. This initiative was started by a handful of our business students and faculty who shared a similar vision for fostering a culture of entrepreneurialism throughout our campus and the Elgin, Illinois community.
Through cooperative relationships between faculty and students, CREATE has launched annual events like Judson Shark Tank, developed an inspirational collaborative space to foster new ideas, developed an entrepreneurial speakers’ series, and launched a new certificate in entrepreneurial studies.
You will have multiple options to apply your learning and gain practical business, management, and marketing experience prior to graduation. These include applied projects, networking connections, field trips, specialty academic programs (see BestSemester.com), and study abroad. In addition, our campus' close proximity to Chicago offers a wide variety of professional internships and even the opportunity to spend a semester studying in the heart of downtown Chicago.
