Traditional Overall Requirements

Overall Judson University Requirements  

  1. At least 120 credit hours are required for graduation.  In some cases, more then 120 hous may be required due to major requirements.
  2. All students must meet 30 hour overall upper division course requirement.
  3. All students must meet Judson University 30 hour residency requirement (at least 20 of last 30 hours must be in residency).
  4. For most majors, minimum cumulative and major GPAs of 2.0 are required for graduation. Please consult your individual major for your required GPA.
  5. A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for all minors.
  6. A maximum of 66 lower division transfer hours may be applied to degree requirements.
  7. A maximum of 8 hrs of physical education activity courses may be counted toward graduation requirements. Required hours will be manually increased in the registrar's office if exceeded.
  8. A maximum of 8 hrs (24 hours for music majors) of applied music may be counted toward graduation requirements. Required hours will be manually increased in the registrar's office if exceeded.
  9. A minimum of 40 percent of the major coursework must be completed at Judson.
  10. For most majros, a minimum of 40 percent of the major must be in courses at the 300 level and above.  Please consult your individual major for your upper division requirements.

Biblical and Theological Studies

Required = 6 Hours

  • Note A non-degreed student who matriculates to Judson with 60 or more transfer hours is required to take BST101 OR BST102 (not both) and one of the electives listed for a total of 6 hours in this section.)
    • BST101 Intro to Bibilical Studies: Old Testament
    • BST102 Intro to Biblical Studies: New Testament
    • Christian Religion/Philosophy Elective: Choose from the following:
      BST222, 223, 224, 228, 245, 249, 330, 333, 334, 336, 337, 338, 339, 342, 343, 346, 349, 355, MIN250, 385 or THS223

    Communication Arts

    Required = 6 Hours

    • ENG101 Expository Writing or ACT/SAT
    • ENG102 Critical Thinking and Writing or ACT/SAT
      Note: ENGLISH/SAT VERBAL PLACEMENT:
      ACT 27or SAT 610-800, or higher, take ENG210, ENG211,MED240,
           MED442, or ENG357X
      ACT 23-26 or SAT 540-600, take ENG102
      ACT 19-22 or SAT 460-530,take ENG101
      ACT 18 or SAT 450, or below, take ENG098 as a prereq for ENG101. NOTE: A grade of C or better is required for ENG101 and ENG102.Transfer and international students who do not submit these scores or transfer equivalent courses must take a Judson university English placement test to determine their correct placement.

  • Note: A non-degreed student who matriculates to Judson with 60 or more transfer hours is not required to take GEN101, but is required to take GEN401 for a total of 3 hours in this section.

    Mathematics

    Required = 3 Hours  (note: a non-degreed student with 60 or more transfer hours is not required to take GEN101)

    • MAT Based on placement
      • Note: ACT/SAT MATH PLACEMENT: ACT 29 or higher or SAT 650 or higher, take MAT111 or MAT215 (notMAT211). ACT 22-28 or SAT 520-640, take MAT11 or MAT211; ACT 17-21or SAT 400-510, take MAT098 as a prereq for MAT111/211; ACT 16 or SAT 390, or below, take MAT081 as a prereq for MAT098.
      • Note: Transfer and international students who do not submitACT/SAT scores or transfer equivalents must take a Judson University math placement test to determine their correct placement.
