Adjunct Instructor of Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II

Job Summary:

The Department of Science and Mathematics at Judson University seeks applications from individuals to teach Human Anatomy and Physiology I and II w/lab for Academic Year 2020/2021. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Anatomy and/or Physiology with experience in using Physiology hardware (e.g. BioPac).

Primary Responsibilities:

The position requires teaching 2 lectures (150 minutes total) and 2 labs (150 minutes total) per week in Human Anatomy and Physiology I for Fall2020 and Human Anatomy and Physiology II for Spring2021. The course meets Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM with each meeting consisting of ~75 minutes for lecture and ~75 minutes for laboratory. The instructor will utilize our BioPac instrumentation for select physiology laboratories and cats as our dissection model for anatomy. Additional materials for dissection can be used at the instructor’s discretion (e.g. cow eye, sheep hearts and brains). Instructor will prepare lessons (lecture and/or active learning), select homework assignments (these can be completed using an online homework system such as Sapling), create tests and quizzes over the prescribed textbook sections, respond to student questions (often via email), and evaluate student work.


Candidates must 1) hold a master’s degree, doctorate preferred, in Biology, Anatomy, Physiology or a related field 2) demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith, 3) share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community, and 4) possess collaborative skills to work with colleagues across the Science and Mathematics Department and throughout the university.

Adjunct faculty hold the rank of instructor and are hired on a per course basis.
