Job Summary:

The Department of English seeks an adjunct instructor to teach ENG101: Expository Writing or ENG102: Critical Thinking and Writing during the 2019-2020 academic year. The Department of English seeks an adjunct instructor to teach core-curriculum courses in academic writing during Fall 2019 or Spring 2020, or both. ENG101: Expository Writing and ENG102: Critical Thinking and Writing cover the basics of academic writing, including a research paper.

Primary Responsibilities:

We seek individuals to teach courses based on the core ENG101-ENG102 curriculum, which covers elements such as creating a thesis, organizing essays, developing ideas, locating and evaluating sources, thinking critically about sources and ideas, composing a research paper, and citing sources properly using the MLA style. Instructors are responsible for designating their own textbooks, creating appropriate lesson plans and assignments, grading papers, holding regular office hours, and submitting both midterm and final grades.


Candidates should 1) hold at least a master’s degree in English Language and Literature, or Rhetoric and Composition, 2) share a commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community, 3) demonstrate a vital and growing Christian faith. Experience in teaching courses similar to ENG101 or ENG102 is preferred.

Adjunct faculty hold the rank of instructor and are hired on a per course basis.
