Chair of the Division of Professional Studies and Program Chair of the Master of Clinical Counseling

Job Summary

A full-time position in the Division of Professional Studies, starting AY 2020-2021. This position is a full-time, professional track faculty position with split administrative load between the MACC and oversight of other Division of Professional Studies program. The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP accredited institution. As Division Chair, s/he will lead the professional programs towards productivity and relevancy, ensuring the academic integrity and curricular coherence of all programs to serve the mission of the University.

Primary Responsibilities

In relation to Division Chair duties, candidate is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the currency of program content and learning resources, which includes new course development and updates of course modules
  • Managing Helix contract and corporate partnerships
  • Managing State Authorization Reciprocity Act (SARA) agreement
  • Overseeing program budgets
  • Faculty and program chair recruitment, orientation, development, and evaluation
  • Assisting with faculty orientation, development, and evaluation programs
  • Working with Administrative Assistant to ensure faculty contracts are timely and correct
  • Working with Academic Adviser to ensure students are following schedule of classes
  • Assisting program chairs in scheduling adjunct faculty
  • Responding to program-related faculty concerns
  • Meeting with prospective and current students with the objective of helping clarify direction and address concerns
  • Advising/referring students as appropriate (to include the selection and recognition of students who qualify for academic or professional commendations)

In relation to Chair of MACC duties, candidate is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the currency of program content and learning resources, which includes new course development and updates of course modules
  • Recruiting, Orienting, Developing, and Evaluating full and part-time faculty
  • Reviewing admission files for MHSA and MACC programs; completing program interviews on a rolling basis, responding to complete files within 24 hours
  • Completing program orientation for new students at each entry point
  • Advising/referring students as appropriate (to include the selection and recognition of students who qualify for academic or professional commendations)
  • Assessing student dispositions on a yearly basis, additionally as needed
  • Working with Assistant Registrar to design schedules for 3 admits per year per campus

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Remaining professionally active, keeping pace with current teaching, and learning theories and developments in the Program field
  • Participating in appropriate divisional other institutional meetings
  • Participating on committees as assigned
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Hold an earned doctorate in counselor education and supervision from a CACREP accredited institution
  • Demonstration of knowledge and experience in the program being managed
  • Experience teaching at the university level in the field covered by the Program
  • A minimum of three to five years working with administrative matters in an educational environment.
  • Commitment to Christ-centered Christian higher education
  • Commitment to the Mission, Educational Goals, and Community Standards of the University
  • Support Christian liberal arts education, with the ability to integrate faith in the discipline in an engaging and compelling manner
  • Collaborative skills to work with colleagues in the Division and throughout the University
  • Ability to promote the Program and represent Judson University to various stakeholders, both within and outside the University, and to work collegially with them
