Department of Computer Science, Assistant or Associate Professor

Job Summary

A full-time position in the Department of Computer Science, at the assistant or associate level, starting AY 2021-2022. This faculty member will be teaching at the undergraduate and doctoral level.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct teaching, service, and scholarship within a private, Christian university of the professions and liberal arts and science.
  • Teach required coursework in computer science.
  • Teach or consult in graduate and/or undergraduate computer science as needed.
  • Conduct a research agenda that is integrated w/ teaching assignments.
  • Provide service to the program and the university in the form of student advising, committee assignments, and maintaining office hours.
Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  • PhD in computer science or related information technology.
  • Collaborative skills to work with colleagues in the Department and throughout the University.
  • Proficiency in industry standard software; GIT, Linux and Amazon AWS.
  • Demonstrate an active and growing Christian faith.
  • Support Christian liberal arts education, with the ability to integrate faith in the discipline in an engaging and compelling manner.
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching within a Christ-centered academic community.
  • Create course syllabi, design course layout using eLearn/Moodle learning management system.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Teaching experience at the graduate level preferred.
  • Course design certification in a virtual environment.
  • Membership in an appropriate professional association.
  • Coach individuals on how to align their talents to assist colleagues.
  • Familiarity with C and Java programming languages along with an advanced degree in computer science or related information technology.
