Judson’s Virtual and In-Person Network Night Features Alumnus Dan Shaver

(ELGIN, IL – Sept. 8, 2020) Judson University will host a Network Night Alumni Insider Event on September 17 as part of the university’s 2020 Homecoming and Family Weekend Celebration.

Judson’s Alumni Insider event will welcome alumni and current students with an opportunity to network at a safe distance and learn by offering the event both virtually and in person. The in-person event will take place in the Reed Room of Lindner Tower (1151 N. State St., Elgin), with networking and mingling beginning at 6:30 p.m. Space will be limited for the in-person event due to current public health procedures. Virtual access to the presentation will be offered beginning at 7:00 p.m. A link to the webinar will be provided via email, for those who choose to attend virtually.

Dan ShaverThe keynote presentation will feature Alumnus Dan Shaver ’01, District Manager at Amazon Web Services, the $40B cloud computing division of Amazon. Dan’s presentation, titled Innovation at Amazon – How to Delight Customers the Amazonian Way, will emphasize his experience working at Amazon, highlighting the company’s culture, as well as their customer-centric products, services, and platforms, and how Amazon intentionally works backward to innovate.

A graduate of Judson University, Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and Corporate Finance. He is an expert on sales strategy, product development, sales execution, and data visualization methods. Over his career, Dan has held several leadership positions at Microsoft Corporation, as well as IDV Solutions, a Data Visualization startup in Lansing, Michigan.

Each year, Judson’s Networking Night provides opportunities for students and alumni to hear from distinguished alumni of the University, allowing for people to build connections, community, and careers. Previous speakers of the event have included Kesha Kent ’05/’14, empowerment speaker, author and trainer, Lori Heiselman ’93, founder and CEO of Biscuit Media Group in Nashville, Tenn., David Plummer ’98, executive producer of WCIU-TV “The Jam,” and Jack Frisby ’81, sales coaching executive and author.
