Judson Honors Leticia Castellanos with Presidential Award for Exceptional Achievement

(ELGIN, IL  - April 7, 2021) On Saturday, March 27 several members of the Belize Global Outreach Team traveled to the Belize Embassy in Chicago for a tour and lunch. At the event, Judson President Gene Crume presented Leticia (Lety) Castellanos, Honorary Consul to the Consulate of Belize, with the Presidential Award for Exceptional Achievement.

Castellanos received the award in recognition for her work in the community as the Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the United Belizeans of Northern Illinois (UBNI). UBNI promotes and enhances opportunities for Belizean Americans by raising awareness through advocacy, education, and service. UBNI has also provided scholarship support for Judson University Belizean students. Castellanos has also served the Waukegan Township Staben House, a transitional housing facility for homeless women with children, for more than 25 years.
