Judson Interior Design Graduates Recognized

Interior Design Olivia Christyanne (ELGIN, IL – June 4, 2020) Two of Judson University’s newest graduates, Olivia Marshall of Kalona, Ia., and Christyanne Wheeler of Ramsey, Ill., received departmental awards for their work while studying Interior Design at Judson University.

Marshall and Wheeler each received awards for High Distinction and Outstanding Performance as part of the Architecture Department’s senior recognition.

Both Judson graduates are now eligible to take to take part one of the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) exam for professional certification. The NCIDQ Examination consists of three separate exam sections, the Interior Design Fundamentals Exam, the Interior Design Professional Exam and the Practicum Exam that measure a candidate’s proficiency in interior design principles and application of knowledge to protect public health, safety and welfare. Judson graduates are eligible to take part one and will be eligible to take the Professional Exam and Practicum Exam after completion of two years full time work under the direction of an NCIDQ certified designer.

“As a professional in the field, I can attest to the high caliber of design produced by these very talented students through a strong instructional foundation within the growing Interior Design program at Judson. This award is both highly sought after among our students and well deserved,” said Joan Kaufman, adjunct faculty and award-winning Interior Design professional. Kaufman received the First-Place award for Bath Design in the 2018 The Illinois Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers Design Excellence Award.

Judson's Interior Design program builds on the university’s successful architecture curriculum and is housed within the Architecture Department. Students earn a minor in architectural studies while completing the professional Interior Design degree curriculum in the third and fourth year of major study.
