Judson University Mourns the Passing of Trustee Emeritus R. James Bagnall

James Bagnall(ELGIN, IL - September 28, 2021) Jim Bagnall, 91, of Marshalltown, Iowa, passed on Saturday, September 25. Jim was a founding member of Judson’s Board of Trustees and served from 1963 to 2012. After serving 49 years as a trustee, he became Trustee Emeritus in 2012. He served on Judson’s Business Affairs Committee, Audit Committee, and the Executive Committee for many years. In 1975, Judson recognized his years of dedicated service to the university when it honored him with the Golden Eagle Award.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bette, of 70 years. His son Ron (Phyllis) Bagnall worked at Judson University as the Vice President of Estate Planning; his son Rick (Pat) Bagnall graduated from Judson in 1974, and his wife attended Judson; Jim’s daughter, Roxanne (Bryce) Shanks and her husband both graduated from Judson University in ’77 and ’80 respectively. He also had a granddaughter, Janel (Shanks) Honeyman, who attended Judson. Jim had nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. 

Jim’s funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 2, at Journey Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
