Judson University to Host Open Houses for 25th Anniversary of Adult Programs

Adult 25th Anniversary (ELGIN, IL – April 5, 2019) Judson University’s Division of Professional Studies is celebrating its 25th anniversary of offering programs in the Elgin, Rockford and online communities.

A celebration will be held for the Rockford campus (200 Y Boulevard, Rockford) on April 9, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. and for the Elgin campus (Reed Room of Lindner Tower, 1151 N. State St., Elgin) on April 16, from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Each celebration will spotlight businesses and innovations of Judson adult program alumni over the years. Participants will also enjoy free food, giveaways, guest speakers and raffle prizes. These events are open to the public.

Judson’s Division of Professional Studies has grown over the past 25 years. In October 1993, Judson Board member Hazel Jean Nietzold donated funds to start an accelerated degree completion program and by February 1994, the inaugural cohort of Management and Leadership students launched in Elgin. The program rapidly grew, adding staff to service students. In 1998, the program expanded its presence to Rockford, offering classes at the Holiday Inn on State Street. In 2001, the university began offering the Management and Leadership program online. In 2006, the program received a Corporate Award from the YWCA during its annual Leader Luncheon.

"This is an exciting moment for Judson’s Division of Professional Studies staff and leaders to look back and remember how the program has grown to serve students where they are with programs that are helping them to improve their professional and personal lives,” said Susan Wesner, chair for the Division. “Each year we have alumni and recent graduates tell us how much they appreciated what they learned in the classroom and how it helped them reach that next level in their career.”

Now, the program has graduated more than 3,200 students and offers nine degrees at three levels. Academic programs for Judson’s Division of Professional Studies include: An Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts; bachelor degrees in Applied Psychology, Human Services, Business Administration and Organizational Leadership; and master degrees in Business Administration, Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Human Services Administration, and Organizational Leadership.

Each academic program has classes at Judson University’s main campus in Elgin; the Swedish American YMCA in Rockford; and online, with classes continuing throughout the year to help working adults achieve their academic goals.
