Mick Weltman Receives Judson's Presidential Award of Excellence

Mick Weltman(ELGIN, IL – April 26, 2022) Judson University’s President Dr. Gene Crume recognized the significant career of Mick Weltman when he bestowed the 2022 Presidential Award of Excellence at the recent Associated Colleges of Illinois (ACI) Board meeting on April 23.

Weltman has served as an adjunct instructor at several colleges, was President and Owner of Weltman Consulting for 16 plus years which worked with non-profit organizations and government agencies locally, nationally, and internationally. He also served as a consultant, interim executive director, and executive director for more than 30 years.

Weltman has served as the Executive Director of ACI since November 2014. During his tenure, he has added six new colleges and universities as members and built a Board of Trustees consisting of 34 corporate members plus presidents of 26 member colleges and universities. He also started professional development conferences twice per year for college professionals and established HR, Diversity & Inclusion Leaders Breakfast and Wealth Advisors Breakfast programs.

“Mick possesses a depth of knowledge in the non-profit sector and has provided exceptional technical assistance with strategic business planning, organizational development, facilitation, leadership and board development, and fundraising,” reflects Judson University President Gene Crume, current president of the ACI.

Through his work at ACI, Weltman secured grants from the Council of Independent Colleges to establish or fund programs for ACI schools such as Career Fair, Career Leaders Program, Career Mentoring Program, Leadership Council, Micro-Internships Program, Peer Mentoring Program and Work and Life Skills Boot Camps to help thousand of college students be prepared to enter the workforce.

“We believe that Mick Weltman has greatly contributed to the Judson community by advocating for underserved students with scholarships so they can succeed in college, career, and life,” states President Crume.
